My Background

  1. Professional Career: For over 20 years, I have worked in marketing data and technology. This career refined my diagnostic skills — teaching me how to ask better questions, trace what drives what, and choose where to intervene in complex systems. I’ve learned that the most persistent challenges stem not from isolated causes, but from complex interconnections.

  2. The Poker Table: I have played poker since the early 2000s. The game taught me a brutal but essential truth: good decisions and good outcomes can be very different things. It trained me to think in bets, understand incentives, and maintain equanimity whether I was winning or losing.

  3. The Classroom: As an adjunct professor at Georgetown University for 5 years, I learned how to break apart large, intimidating topics into understandable, actionable lessons.

Current Projects

  • Newsletter: In my newsletter, I share essays about navigating the complexities of work and life. I try to publish a new essay 1-2 times per month.

  • Book: I am the author of The Stoic Systems Thinker (coming April 2026), an exploration of the intersection between Systems Thinking and Stoicism, and how to utilize these skills to build a life of clarity and purpose.
